Statement of Intent

How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief?

Product 1 (Entertainment Magazine)

My target audience is a fun-loving 16-25 year old mass demographic which, of who I asked, are bored of the generic conventions seen in a majority of entertainment magazines. I plan to produce a magazine that challenges gender stereotypes which is seen as a problem by a few of the girls that I asked. I will make a magazine with a female model but it will not fit the girly stereotype, I will use the stereotypical ‘male’ colour of blue and the model will not be posed in a stereotypically girl manner. I will also break male gender stereotypes by having a model with extravagant makeup/face paint with editing to break the general conventions of a male entertainment cover. I also plan to produce a magazine that sticks to some of the generic conventions of entertainment magazines but I will stray from these conventions by changing how the information is presented on the cover, similar to the Beat magazine featuring the singer Grimes. I like the futuristic look of Brooke Candy on the cover of Paper Magazine and plan to create either a make-up look or digitally created enhancements that make my model have a post-human feel.

Product 2 (Accompanying Website)

My website will feature a simplistic layout with moving pictures and celebrity news stories. I think that this will appeal to the target audience because, from the people I have asked in the demographic, they want to stay up to date with celebrity news whilst also seeing a less conventional more artistic website with less text and more imagery. I will use the moving pictures provided by Wix.com to create a futuristic, artsy feel to the website. My favourite found website is Paper Magazine's website as I like the simple yet effective layout and I am going to try and recreate the simplicity with my own website. I will make my website easily navigable and visually stimulating with straight-forward links and lots of images and news stories so that the viewer is never 

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? 

My media product and website will have certain things in common like the font of the title of the magazine and images. I like the idea of having butterflies as a motif on both the magazine which I think fits the fun-loving demographic. I will use the gifs on Wix and PNGs found online to carry this out. I want my website and magazine to look and feel like they are intertwined together.
